Waterworks bling
Last Changed by Simon Young, Oct 05, 2009 22:16

Theres a little bit more stainless sticking out of the mighty waterworks some existing routes getting a retrobolt with others just having manky ones replaced. now theres a few more moderates accesible to the masses. Routes with a facelift include:

Five Four about grade 12-14ish (easy route on left)

Death unto Racists (left of the two routes, about grade 17)

Bastard Cancer (right of two routes, about grade 18)

theres still some work going on to replace some of the existing mank and should be finished this week, ready for the psyched afterwork masses thanks to daylight savings!

and cheers to tom and alex for putting up that new route! good job guys!!

simon

PS will update guide tommorrow!

5.10 Team shoe
Last Changed by Robert Strong, Oct 06, 2009 20:07

Hey everyone. I'm new to thesarvo. I live in TAS but am in the UK at the moment. I havnt been climbing very long and so am still on my first pair of shoes. They were good beginner shoes but now are preventing me from climbing much higher grades. I was thinking of buying a pair of 5.10 team shoes as bouldering and sport climbing shoes. Does anybody own a pair of these? If so what are they like?

Oatlands lake full
Last Changed by Jon Nermut, Oct 13, 2009 11:28

There's a story in today's mercury about how full lake dulverton is:

http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/10/13/103125_todays-news.html

Someone said they were up there in the last couple of weeks, and said that you had to walk around the top, but most things were still climbable.

Anyone else been up there recently?

The Guardians - info needed
Last Changed by Tony McKenny, Oct 15, 2009 16:22

We are trying to find descriptions for the Guide of a number of big climbs on the Guardians (near Lake St Clair) dating back to 1972 - 76. In particular, has anyone got any info on the routes climbed by Peter Treby and Terry Brooks and Reg Williams and Roland Pauligk in 1972 and 1974 (particularly info on "The Dragon", a 270m grade 20)? The Baxter Boys were there in 1976 (Kevin Lindorff, Roark Muhlen and Noddy Lockwood and of course Chris himself), adding "Excelsior" (16), "Warrior" (17), "Guardian Angel" and "the Monster" (20). There may be info on these climbs in old Thrutch or Argus mags of the time (if anyone still has them), but not in the CCT newsletters.

access to cluan teir
Last Changed by matthew johnston, Oct 20, 2009 12:47

the gate across the road to the cluan teir has been locked. this has turned at 10 min walk in to a 30 min one. i wouldn t be put off; its a very flat extra 20 min and the gate might just be locked until a couple of fallen trees further up the road have been cleared.
