Hi,

I have made number of short trips down to Hobart in the last 6 months.

Is there any indoor climbing gyms in/around Hobart?

I would be really keen to get up to Mt Wellington, unfortunately i'm down for business and am flying back before the weekend

    You could try the Uni gym tues or thurs nights, or the ever changing outdoor gym at waterworks quarry, bring your own lights

      Is the uni gym open to the public and do they hire gear? (I didn't bring any gear with me)

        The uni gym is open to non university students. We charge $40 for a years membership. We ask for a couple bucks shoe and harness hire and provide belay devices free. We dont hire gear outside of the gym.

        To any dodgy people out there: If you are using the uni gym and have not paid your membership of $40 for non-students please do so. You have been warned.

          wow! you mean i could get my forearms tired twice a week for a whole year for just $40!!?? Hell Yeah! thats cheap as. How much are memberships at the (defunct) Edge gym?

            Well Mr. Dave James, the price for membership at the climbing edge was over $300 a year! Ours is $40. CHEAP! And at the Uni, we go on outdoor trips.All members are welcome to come along and its only an extra *one time fee* of $10 for gear cost. We will teach you how to climb with gear!

              Never heard of this climbing wall before this post. Must be full of pretended climbers, or dodgy old school ones who only go there to take young ladies up to the Moonraker ledge, we've heard it all before !! Do you guys (Mr Fischer) teach how to put nuts in cracks ?

                cool, sounds like the place to be. I 'll make it for sure tuesday or thursday next week. I won't be going to the next incarnation of the climbing edge thats for sure, well not unless its less than $40 a year...
