Afternoon all!

Some friends and I are heading over to Flinders Island for the Easter break and cannot decide upon the plethora of routes and areas to check out.

Suggestion anyone????

I havent done alot of trad climbing lately and would be comfortable leading long routes up to 16, on sport routes however I could manage up to grade 22/23.

Also are there many good quality bouldering areas?

Cheers,

Simon

  1. Simo! Going to flinders buddy?

Its a F'ing sweet spot. I tried bouldering mostly when I was there last year, and from what little I did the best boulders (in terms of no cleaning and good rock) are at the Killicrankie campsite and surrounding areas. You should email Dave about what routes to do there, he's been there quite a few times and is a great talking guidebook :)

    Have fun bud!

      Hey Chong! :)

After a extensive discussion and deliberation at the Primrose Pad with DJ, I think with the amount of time/experience/gear we have collaboratively and taking (e.g. we are taking our own SCUBA gear over too) just talking a bouldering mat stuffed with clothes will be more than adequate.

Nick Hancocks Flinders Description in the B Guide is stuffed with praise for the bouldering beauty that envelopes regions of the island. This has psyched me exclusively. Not to mention the relentless viewing of  Dosage V and training on my mate Nick's bouldering wall.

Almost time to stink it up.

Get some NZ rock up ya! :)

Sorry for the oversight on the Flinders update Mikey, I have a early 2009 ed. of the Guide. Before you where even born! :)

  2. How are you heading up there simon ? boat, plane ? would be pretty keen to join !

      Hey Loz,

We are taking a plane over (more reliable) rather than the boat. Leaving on the 23rd of April and back on the 1st of May. Your more than welcome to join us at any stage of the Flinders bliss.

The aviation company we're flying with is Sharp Airlines, i'm not sure who else services Flinders?

  3. I'll bring the guidebook to freycinet simo!

  4. I'd also like to get up there and check out the boulders-what's the best and cheapest way to go, and also the best seasons?  Beta anyone?
