Mt Blackwood

Mt Blackwood

10-30 min
Short bolted sandstone or dolerite up to 100m
Introduction
Mt Blackwood consists of two areas - Blackwood Summit has multipitch dolerite, whereas Blackwood Rocks has shorter bolted sandstone. Some people have been "disappointed" at the quality of the rock, given the hype it originally received.
Access
From Launceston travel via highway B51 to Poatina. For Blackwood Rocks continue 7km past Poatina up the mountain and park just past a gravel road on the left with a locked gate and a sign saying "Private Property". Park at the next track on the right. The crags are up above this track. See the GPS co-ordinates below.
For Mt Blackwood Summit, continue up the Poatina Rd up over the top, where the cliffs come into view high up to the left. Park on the highway and walk up the scree to the cliffs.
