Have done 2 new routes at Mad Monkeys.

Tank Jumper (25/26) to the left of Romeo is Bleeding on the King Ryobi buttress

Walking Spanish (25/26) to the right of Goating Around up to the right.

Not sure of the grades exactly so please repeat, both are 2 stars.

See guide for details.

Also re-bolted Goating Around and it shares the anchor of Walking Spanish, so now has lower offs.

  1. Great work James, gives me another reason to trudge back up that hill.

On a side note, I've only ever accessed from below, do you or anyone else recommend accessing from Risdon Dam?

  2. I've tried both Chris, and there's not a lot of difference - shorter and steeper vs longer and easier. I have heard of people riding in from Risdon which would be a bit quicker.

  3. The Risdon Dam mountain bike approach is no easier on the way up but way faster on the way down (and more fun).  Some things to remember:
    1) The gates down the bottom get closed late afternoon so if there is a chance of being out later than the closing date park on the road.

    2) The route isn't within the Risdon Dam reserve for the whole length and there may be some prohibition on using it with a bike.  You are definitely allowed to bike the dirt road around the dam though so the ranger won't mind you doing that (if you see him).
