I have added 4 bolts to the 4th pitch of Into The Mystic at Bare Rock. This excellent route has 5 pitches with grades of 22, 25, 24, 22 and 24 and goes up left of Sapphire Rose. The 4th pitch is grade 22 and probably the best pitch for the grade on the crag, however I originally bolted it with a few run-outs on easier sections - were talking 5m run-outs on grade 18-19 climbing. While repeat ascensionists will no doubt cope with the difficulty of this pitch, having done more difficult pitches below, the rock at Fingal is potentially suspect on most routes. So in the possibility of friable rock and broken holds, wisdom has prevailed and now the bolting on this pitch is consumer friendly. A terrific link up can be done by doing the first 2 pitches of Sapphire Rose, then a 15m traverse pitch (grade 22) to the start of the 4th pitch of INto The Mystic, this creating a super sustained 4 pitch route in the 21-22 range.

Hi I'm Jonathan I will be moving to Tasmania from the uk at the end of july and would like to get out there climbing/bushwalking and having some great adventures and meeting some likeminded people to discover what looks like a beautiful place. Any help will be gratefully received and any clubs peoples could recommend thanks Jon.

Vapors, almost new, perform incredibly well on steeps/edges but too small for me. Great training slip on.

Dog Leg Bend

Had a really nice day at this crag today with James Ridder.  River levels were low and it is sunny (at least when we were there; from about midday).  The routes are good and have been well executed : thanks for the prep-work guys.  This is a worthy addition to the local options.

climbing parnter 10th

Perhaps good little starter set for someone just starting out on gear? They've all been field tested (fallen on) plenty of times, so I can assure you that they work beautifully!

I've also got a pair of La Sportiva Cliffs for sale. Size 42.5. Never been climbed in. $100 ono.

I'm living in South Hobart if you wanna come by and check it out.  Send me a message or gimme a call on 0450329352. Happy climbing!

Hi all,

I'm living a few kilometers south of the Coles Bay turn off on the Tasman Highway and am keen to climb, but need partners. My work is flexible, so can get out most days of the week and weekends. Psyched on the Star Factory and anywhere else for that matter - sport, trad or bouldering. I have plenty of room where I am and any potential climbing partners are welcome to stay. I have rope and full rack. My mobile is 045 525 99 88. Please call if you want to go climbing.

Cheers,

Squib

ps - have somehow managed to put this post on thesarvo's main page - if anyone knows how to get rid of it please do!

Moving to Launceston

Hi all. My girlfriend and I are planning to move from Brisbane to Launceston in about six weeks time. If all goes well we should be there for at least two years. I'm going to be sad to leave Frog Buttress behind just as the winter season starts up, but I'm hoping that the abundance of awesome rock in Tassie will more than make up for it. As far as I can tell there's no public climbing gym in Launceston - so I'm wondering where I should go to meet climbers? Will anyone be climbing at the gorge at that time of year (May)?

Wanted to create an easy new climb for beginners at Hillwood down in the dungeon area as some of my outdoor ed students were struggling with the easiest climbs on the chessboard.

Its called `The Muppets Climb' 8m, grade 9. So called because any muppet should be able to climb it. Its on the small cliff opposite Jugs R Us, and has 4 bolts.
