Hi all,
Just a quick reminder that the Peregrines are now taking over the cliff for the next few months while they do their thing.
The cliff should re-open early December, it has been great to see so many people up this season.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hey guys,
I would like to start climbing at Hillwood, and have tried to contact Gerry on the number provided, with no success. I was hoping to check it out some time this week and perhaps climb in the coming weekends.
Any help would be appreciated.
Michael
From the Merc website:
THE Pinnacle Rd on Mt Wellington has been blocked by a boulder that fell near the roadside.
Police closed the road at the Springs about 5pm today because the massive rock, estimated to weigh up to 40 tonnes, was perched precariously by the road.
A Hobart City Council spokesman said a member of the public alerted authorities after hearing the rock crash through the bushes.
The road will remain closed tomorrow morning while geologists assess the danger posed by the rock.

Good evening fellow climbers.
I have, unfortunately, just been in touch with some very frustrated neighbours. Their concerns revolve around people (unknown) who are, in their words, using the place as a rally track. This may not even be climbers, but can I please remind all who visit to really dial down the speed on the dirt road section, which is maintained and funded by the neighbours and I.
On a separate note, can I also please ask all people who are camping to use the site next to the shipping container ONLY (unless camping at the top or expressly told otherwise by myself). I was very dissappointed to find out that a recent visitor who has been camping for the last few days, chose to camp near the old piggery, against the express messages of web-sites, guide books and phone texts. This kind of action, if continued, could be a deal breaker... the neighbours are a fantastic resource (and currently great supporters of our sport), I would hate to see that change.
Sincerely,
Andrew & Alanna
If you are thinking of climbing on the Mount, you might not have seen that you now have to pre-book, and pre-pay, for your campsite. Check out details on http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=1&MessageID=123210&Replies=65#NewPost or the Parks web site http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/mount-arapiles-tooan-state-park . Yet another layer of bureaucracy to deal with.....
I was gobsmacked to witness the number of climbers up the Pipes on Sunday (22/6). For mid-winter, the air temperature was certainly mild and the rock warm... well at least while the sun was out! I counted no less than seven parties on various Northern Buttress trad routes and another rope on Third Bird (Central Buttress). The climbers' carpark was chocker and there was even a queue waiting to climb Centaur.... An unbelievable mid-winter phenomenon!
