Really excited to be coming into Tas for the first time. I'm renting a car, have all the gear to do multipitch trad climbs. I am thinking about going to Freycinet and check out suff around Hobart.

Comfortable sport leading up to around 20-22 and trad leading up to 19 or so. I was thinking about hitting up the climbing gym in Hobart this afternoon. My number here is (0)414213445. I'm also down to hike Mount Eliza at some point.

Busy with a conference from Sunday to Tuesday, but otherwise free. Really looking forward to some climbs!

Hey everyone.

Just moved to Launceston from Sydney a few weeks ago. Still getting organized but im keen to start climbing down here or even bouldering if anyone's out and about.
Haven't climbed for a few months but usually Trad on the mid teen grades and sport up to 20 in the Blue Mountains. Really enjoy adventure routes and long easy days. Very keen to get out and have someone show me round a few local crags and meet a few people.

Im not working at the moment so can climb mid week as well. Should be back in town around the 15th with my gear.

i am visiting Tasmania in 10 days and would be super keen to climb some beautiful crag down there! I have my personal gears but no rope, lead climb till 22 when I practice (comfort zone 18-20), thought about renting a van but also have a tent... Looking for a mate who have experience as well!

So, who is up to?!

By the way, I am from France and have been traveling in NZ for 9months on a WHV

I just put together a 3 minute video of Gerry climbing his trad route Paschendale 25. Some serious metal and serious mullet action taking place at the Boneyard.

I recently installed the android app and it is an excellent vehicle for publishing this great collection of route info.  It is a testimony to Jon's skill and dedication (of course!) and also to all those people who have freely contributed open source route info over the years.  Thank you.  

Did what i thought was a new route at Township creek and found a mouldy black rope sling on top of a pinnacle indicating someone beat me to it years ago. Has anyone been exploring at township creek sometime in the last 25 years, and wandered high on the ridge above telopea crag and climbed a pinnacle..it is an attractive curving thin crack about 15m high up a pinnacle and on the summit was a big rope sling in advanced state of decay. The pinnacle is about 200m north of the new crag we have been developing lately. The route is about 19 and of good quality..but annoying to a  guidebook author who thought he knew everything.

Sadly, Tom passed away 13 August, after a long struggle with illness. Tom was a quiet pioneer of Tassie climbing in the 60’s. Some of his notable first ascents include Fiddlesticks and Cymbal on the Organ Pipes. Condolences to his family.

Climbing El Cap in September and feeling a bit chicken about leading the offwidths..anyone got a #6 cam they want to sell?

Hi. Will visit Tasmania early October. No firm plans but would love to check out the trad climbing there, preferably cracks. Have climbed for years (decades!) but never managed to push past grade 18-20. I'll bring full rack and rope, rent a car and see what happens. Btw.. I'm Danish, live in UK and am not a cricket fan!

Completed my multi-pitch project at Bare Rock on the weekend. Black Fire (21, 25, 22, 20). Goes up the slab right of Finn McCool and left of Bisso of Orange. The second pitch tackles an overhanging wave in the cliff, an unusual feature on the central face of the cliff providing some steep, burly and exciting moves. Ingvar has done an alternative 2nd pitch at grade 27 up to the same anchors. The climb finishes at the base of Orange Crush..so you could keep going up Orange Crush if you are up to a grade 29 final pitch. 

Just back from Cradle where the big (250m+) waterfall  sequence from the Plateau to Ballroom Forest was frozen solid.

Never seen that before, but the temps  in the valley over night were minus 6C for several nights in a row. It is up there with the longest potential ice climb in Tassie as it is fed from the top by the Plateau Creek. Don't think it has ever been climbed, summer or winter but rumour has it that it has been abseiled ( a long held project of mine that has never quite materialised!). Suspect it might have gone by now although it is still cold up there, worth watching the forecast if you want to pick this plum......

Hi there all, I have my father and brother in tassie at the moment, i was interested in taking them on a big abseil but i am not sure where to take them.
We would like to do one with a multi pitch abseil with walk in and out single day walk access around the lake st. clair area. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
