the gate across the road to the cluan teir has been locked. this has turned at 10 min walk in to a 30 min one. i wouldn t be put off; its a very flat extra 20 min and the gate might just be locked until a couple of fallen trees further up the road have been cleared.

    The gate across the road to the Cluan Tier is a new gate installed by the Hydro 3 months ago. They tell me it will now be permanently locked. They are considering giving me a key for climbers to access the area. That would mean borrowing the key from me on the way through Launceston when visiting the Cluan. Otherwise its only a further 20 mins to walk as Matt says. Will keep you posted as to whether I score a key or not.
