Climbers,

Please get in touch if you have seen dumped tyres or bits of car and engines and other nasties, anywhere above or below the Organ Pipes, or anywhere they may be able to be rolled from the road.

We've had an anonymous report we're seeking your assistance to substantiate.

Many thanks!

  1. Hey Ben, no problem posting here, will let you know if I see anything.

There can't be that many places where it would be possible to roll big stuff from the road, given the barriers and boulders?

Thanks for the quick reply, Jon. Yeah it's a long shot. Generally I figured if you or your members had seen anything horrible you'd have reported it to WPMT or HCC...

The idea of a bogan going to so much trouble seems counter intuitive - but there has been a precendent recently of car and parts dumping in a very well hidden spot at the northern end of the park, which has made me reevaluate these cretins' determination and resourcing.

There are some other places away from the Pipes that I have in mind, and I'll check those first, but if you don't mind just keeping my number/email handy in case you hear or see anything worth passing on, I'd appreciate it.

      cheers

      Ben

Dear Climbers, happy to advise we found the tyre dump so you can lower your alert level and get on with climbing!

Just a handful really, and well away from the Pipes. There are 1 or 2 spots where a ute can pull up beside the wire rope barrier and heave them over and have them semi-disappear in scrub and rock, about 1km down the road from the pinnacle. We'll get rid of them in the next couple of days.

Still, please report any other nastinesses you happen upon.

        Thanks

  2. Good work, Ben, and thanks for the update. Let us know if you want a helping hand getting rid of them. Apart from the degradation of the environment, I guess they pose a real fire risk if you get some twerp thinking it might be amusing to set them alight.

    Cheers

    Doug

      Thanks Doug,

yep the twerp factor motivated the immediate removal on Friday. Just like Oscar Wilde, they too can resist anything except temptation.

      cheers
