Jon, Nice piece of research. Guess that means the access is in need of editing.

I'd like to go back there some time and repeat the trad routes at Tea Leaves and Main Cliff.  Did you have a crack at any while you were there?  Carnap used to be a bit of fun....

    Jon,

The rookeries might well be cleaner rock than Clifton... It had a classic trad route up the centre of the crag that wasn't bad... 20-25m high?

  2. Nah, didnt end up doing any climbing, lumped heavy packs all the way round there but wasn't very inspired in the end.
If I was going back again I would:

    • If going around the top take a saw to lop some branches and make a bit more of a path through the she oaks, or
    • If going along the sea level traverse of the choss cliffs take some old rope to add some fixed lines for the last bit, which just looked just a little insecure. It would probably be trivial in climbing shoes though.
      and
    • Once past the choss cliffs etc skirt across the bottom of the paddocks as its much easier walking

Yeah the rookeries looks interesting but not sure how to get there without a boat or getting land owner permission.

  3. Hi Jon - the rookeries have quite a number of routes.  Dad and I are working on a guide to this area right now. The access problems are still a sensitive issue but a work in progress - will plan to update you soon.
